Willow Creek Adventure Camp history

Willow Creek Adventure Camp was originally named Willow Creek Camp, and was built in 1974 on the property named Koolah. The owners were having a quieter time in agriculture, and decided to build a camp to showcase the property and create another revenue source.

The camp was operated for many years providing activities like horse rides, butter making, rope making, cart rides and bushwalking. During the late 1990's and early 2000's the camp scaled back and mainly catered for youth groups and the occasional school camp.

In 2020, Beyond the Classroom partnered with the 3rd generation Walter family, leased the camp and surrounding land, and commenced renovations. During this time a new kitchen was built, everything was painted, the concrete floors were ground and polished, landscaping was completed, a new driveway and carpark was installed along with a new septic system.

In early 2021, fences were realigned, a mountain bike track was built and a range of challenge structures and teamwork challenges were installed. There have been many more exciting improvements happening in the surrounding land on the property, including an orienteering course, bushwalking track, bridges and camp out areas.

Renovations are continually happening as the property is being transformed into one of South Australia's leading outdoor education centres.

In the near future, the camp facilities will be further developed with more accommodation, dining space and an ablution block being built.
